My lease runs out in less than two months and I will be buying my first house. AmeriDream and Nehemiah basically just give you money that the seller isn't legally allowed to give you... then the seller "donates" it back to them. I am not looking for that. I want a program that really gives you grant money (gifts) directly from the government. I know there are programs like this for first time buyers. Anyone been there done that? My mother had her land and buildings in trust. Naming her trustee of the trust. When she died;myself and three siblings are named the beneficiaries. My eldest brother we nominated the trustee of the trust after her passing.
In the trust the "Duration" paragraph states termination is (a)the death of the trustee(at signing was my mother) or (B)expiration of 20 years(2016). Is the trust still valid?
I am being told the trust ended the day my mother died. Why then did we need to nominate a trustee?
Also in the trust documentation is paragraph "termination" which states the trust shall be terminated by trustees's own initiative or upon written request of a majority of beneficial interest,and the termination recorded at the Registry of Deed's.......

We need a way to suggest national law. A ballot initiative would do well, but this is a Republic, and I don't know enough about it to see the way to do it. And we need to be able to bring ballot questions to the ballot on a regular basis. Every two years.. and yes that would be costly, but if enough people were present on the ballot initiative, that extra cost would be acceptable.

I was out there in 1982, when the "handgun freeze initiative" (Prop, 15) was on the ballot. All the pundits were predicting that it would pass by a 2-1 margin, but it got defeated by that very margin, or close enough. In California, especially since Proposition 13 (1978), we have developed quite a habit of proposing laws by petition (initiatives) and then voting on them in the next election. Suspects’ lawyer admits drafting order

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) The lawyer for two of the three suspects in a controversial drug case has admitted that he drafted the release order and sent it to the Department of Justice.
Felisberto Verano confirmed a statement by justice undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor who told the House of Representatives investigating the issue that the lawyer sent the document to his office for delivery to Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez.
In an interview after he filed a petition for habeas corpus for Joseph Tecson and Richard Brodett Tuesday, Verano said since it was Christmas time, he was “doing the boys a favor,” referring to his clients.
Verano admitted that what he did was not normal, but did not see anything wrong, saying that if Gonzalez did not sign it, then there was nothing he could do about it.
He said his conversation with Gonzalez who promised that he would study the resolution issued by Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuño gave him hope that the three suspects would be released.
Verano said what he did was “not influencing but simply facilitating” for the immediate release of Brodett, Joseph and Tecson.
"The letter was going to be signed by the Secretary of Justice. I just facilitated it," Verano said.
Asked how he got hold of the DOJ letterhead, Verano said "I got hold of it sometime in the past. I go in and out of the DOJ."
"I was doing the boys a favor," Verano said, pointing out that it was almost Christmas and since the case had been dismissed, he took the initiative to make the draft.

Socialism always destroys personal freedoms by trying to plan for other lives through a central government system that watches out for you. (This is why President Reagan once quipped that the worst words you could ever hear were these: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you!”) Capitalism allows you to plan for yourself. It allows for creativity and enterprise. Furthermore, it encourages people to provide for others in order to express their creativity through goods and services. Greed is, in reality, inimical to capitalism. Greed drives the welfare state more than it does capitalism since greedy people want unearned rewards to be given to them by a benevolent government that levels the playing field. Such a system directly causes people to petition governments to solve their personal problems, and the bigger the government’s role becomes the worse the nightmare.
The problem with liberal economic state-based solutions is that they undermine this cycle of personal success and initiative. Capitalism allows even “the wretched of the earth” to succeed. Envy and greed create wars and revolutions. Witness the great twentieth century bloodbaths, most of which revolved around economic thoughts and the role of government in engineering material possession and seeking to level the playing field economically.
Many young Christians are being sold a bill of goods about the evils of capitalism by evangelical writers such as Ron Sider, Tony Campolo and Jim Wallis. The intentions of these men are generally good. They desire equality, which is good. They also hate injustice and racism. This is also very good. But the equality of means and income is not the basis of real freedom. Even lifting everyone out of poverty is not possible since poverty is rooted in much more than access to more money.

“Senator McCain’s choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies.
“Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.
“This is Senator McCain’s first significant choice in building his executive team and it’s a bad one. It has to raise serious doubts in the minds of voters about John McCain’s commitment to conservation, to addressing the impacts of global warming and to ensuring our country ends its dependency on oil.”

I have some sad news. Unfortunately, Alaska voters defeated a ballot initiative yesterday that would have ended the state’s brutal aerial hunting program.
Thousands of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund supporters gave invaluable support to this important campaign, but in the end, deep-pocketed special interests carried the day.
This morning, I spoke with Nick Jans, co-chair of Alaskans for Wildlife, our grassroots partners in The Last Frontier who spearheaded the state ballot initiative to end Alaska’s brutal aerial hunting program. He wanted me to pass on this message to you:

Obviously, companies cannot make hiring or firing decisions based on political affiliations. But in cases where the company has a strong stake in the election of a candidate or passage/failure of a measure or initiative, can a company deny you a promotion, perk, bonus, or other benefit based on political affiliations.
I mean, are there situations where you have to sacrifice your personal convictions at the altar of company loyalty as far as political matters are concerned. Would you fear being called a "Benedict Arnold" in the company's eyes--because from the firm's perspectice, you are basically engaging in treason, if you take the side opposite that which the firm takes. I mean, does working for the company require you to also support the organization's political goals in addition to its business goals. For instance, can an employee be required to attend a political rally (e.g. a candidate visit or an anti-war protest) or sign a petition?
What I really am talking about was this: Can you be in trouble with your company if you do not support its political causes by voting for the positions and candidates that the company endorses? I mean, isn't there any way that the company can find out how its employees voted without asking them (e.g. checking with the county elections office)?
CAMPAIGN AGAINST BRITISH SUMMER TIME
Ever since I first found out about British Summer Time (BST), I wondered what on Earth the point of it was - I mean, the sun comes up when it comes up, doesn’t it; regardless of what your clock is showing when it happens?
I was about six years old when I figured this out, and yet the government still doesn’t seem to have realized the futility of BST.
And what is the alleged purpose of BST? To allow farmers (0.016% of the population, at last reckoning) to get up ‘earlier’ and work ‘later’ during the summer months, or something. Has it not occurred to these farmers that they should just get up earlier on their own initiative, like everyone else (99.984% of the population) has to? What difference does it make, what time your clock shows?
For a government, whose stated purpose is to do whatever is best for the majority of the population it controls, does it not at least seem a little misguided to do something that only 0.016% of its people benefit from? Beside the fact that this 0.016% don’t actually benefit at all from BST anyway?
Now, some people have put forward the thought that most of the population do in fact benefit from farmers, producing food as they do; and this is a fair point. But would you be concerned if you knew that your potatoes had been harvested at 7.30 in the morning instead of 8.30? I don’t think so.
Add to all of this that most farmers get up at ridiculous times in the morning anyway, and really begin to wonder what the point of it all is.
In addition to all of the above, it should be noted that much of the food we eat is now imported - in other words, grown by farmers in other countries who do not have the ‘benefit’ of BST. Farmers in other parts of the world (roughly 98.65% of farmers) just get up and do their work like everyone else, and don’t request bizarre clock-changes that mess up everyone elses’ biorhythms and don’t actually help them at all anyway.
This growing prevalence of cheaper imported food also raises the question of what farmers in Britain actually do these days. We’ve all known for years that the government pays farmers not to grow some crops, thus regulating the food price index; and even pays many farmers to stockpile food they’ve already harvested (grain mountains, butter mountains and the slightly less imaginable milk mountains spring to mind). Therefore, why are these farmers in such a hurry to get up in the mornings anyway?

And, in relation to BST, the rapeseed plants (that the oils for these fuels are harvested from) don’t know or care what time of day it is.
All of this still doesn’t explain why farmers see the need to drive their tractors along A-roads during peak traffic times. The suspicion arises that they don’t have anything else to do (being paid by the government not to grow anything) and are a bit bored (having got up really early in the morning and not having done anything since). I know it’s not specifically related to the subject, but tractors are designed to drive across fields, yes? So why do they have to drive on the roads at all? And if the do, why not do it when they get up, ridiculously early in the morning?
Therefore, considering all of the above, what about an initiative to promote GMT 24/7 and force the government to recant the outdated and impotent British Summer Time law?
Initially I propose a campaign of ridicule, starting with always referring to BST as ‘British Stupid Time’. This, I hope, will reinforce to the government the depth of feeling amongst the people with regard to the antiquated and defunct law.
Next, there should be some sort of petition, signed (obviously) by as many people as possible. This will be presented to the Prime Minister (or whoever passes for that at the time) by myself, or someone designated by the members of the Campaign.
Media coverage is of course another obvious tool we can use in our efforts, and pretty much any publicity will be good - be creative and think of some things to do that will raise awareness of our mission.
If the government fails to respond to all of the above, there is the final step of just boycotting BST wholesale. This really is a situation where if we all just ignore BST, it will go away - the government simply cannot ignore 99.984% of the population forever.
So then, let us go forth and cancel this aberration, doing our part to bring normality back to Britain (there is obviously a lot more involved in that than just getting the clocks right; but one step at a time, eh)?

The California Supreme Court's decision that the law against same sex marriage is unconstitutional takes effect in 30 days allowing same sex couples to marry, but the court's decision could be overturned in November due to initiative petitions that have already been submitted for a state constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage.
Since same sex marriage wasn't currently legal in the other states that have passed amendments banning it, will there be a backlash against California voters if the ban passes since they will be taking away a civil right for same sex couples that they already have?

it is justified? Some businesses are taking advantage to maximize their profits and I believe one such
company is KFC.
Let's look at a breakdown. A chicken can be divided into 9 parts; 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 side
breasts and one centre breast. A medium chicken retails at the supermarket for around $35. KFC
literally buys truckloads of chicken daily so we can assume they would pay around $30 for the same size
chicken.. How much does KFC sell the same nine pieces of chicken for? $78! A PROFIT OF $48 PER CHICKEN!
What's worse, a regular size soft drink sells for $5. Pour out the ice and see just how much drink you get
for $5. just about half a cup.
The worst of it all - KFC sells a 400ml bottle of Blue Waters
for $4.50. I made a call to Blue Water and they
said a case of 400ml water sells for $34. that's $1.41 per bottle. KFC buys water by the truckload and would
get it much cheaper. THEY MAKE $3.00 - $3.25 PROFIT ON A SMALL BOTTLE OF WATER!

My mother had her land and buildings in trust. Naming her trustee of the trust. When she died;myself and three siblings are named the beneficiaries. My eldest brother we nominated the trustee of the trust after her passing.
In the trust the "Duration" paragraph states termination is (a)the death of the trustee(at signing was my mother) or (B)expiration of 20 years(2016). Is the trust still valid?
I am being told the trust ended the day my mother died. Why then did we need to nominate a trustee?
Also in the trust documentation is paragraph "termination" which states the trust shall be terminated by trustees's own initiative or upon written request of a majority of beneficial interest,and the termination recorded at the Registry of Deed's.......
My siblings and I do not agree on a selling price,does that statement of Termination mean that the three of them can terminate by majority against me and sell the house at their price?

I've been sent papers to sign which I'm told would make the beneficiaries "Tenants in Common". Does that result in:

We need a way to suggest national law. A ballot initiative would do well, but this is a Republic, and I don't know enough about it to see the way to do it. And we need to be able to bring ballot questions to the ballot on a regular basis. Every two years.. and yes that would be costly, but if enough people were present on the ballot initiative, that extra cost would be acceptable.

To be specific, when will you get your act together and organize a petition drive to repeal your state's flagrantly unconstitutional gun laws? After all, Proposition 8 passed.
I was out there in 1982, when the "handgun freeze initiative" (Prop, 15) was on the ballot. All the pundits were predicting that it would pass by a 2-1 margin, but it got defeated by that very margin, or close enough. I'll tell you what, when the TV newscasters had to read those results, it looked like somebody had just pooped on their sushi platters.
Is it really that bad out there? I haven't been there since '82.

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) The lawyer for two of the three suspects in a controversial drug case has admitted that he drafted the release order and sent it to the Department of Justice.
Felisberto Verano confirmed a statement by justice undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor who told the House of Representatives investigating the issue that the lawyer sent the document to his office for delivery to Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez.
In an interview after he filed a petition for habeas corpus for Joseph Tecson and Richard Brodett Tuesday, Verano said since it was Christmas time, he was “doing the boys a favor,” referring to his clients.
Verano admitted that what he did was not normal, but did not see anything wrong, saying that if Gonzalez did not sign it, then there was nothing he could do about it.
He said his conversation with Gonzalez who promised that he would study the resolution issued by Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuño gave him hope that the three suspects would be released.
Verano said what he did was “not influencing but simply facilitating” for the immediate release of Brodett, Joseph and Tecson.
"The letter was going to be signed by the Secretary of Justice. I just facilitated it," Verano said.
Asked how he got hold of the DOJ letterhead, Verano said "I got hold of it sometime in the past. I go in and out of the DOJ."
"I was doing the boys a favor," Verano said, pointing out that it was almost Christmas and since the case had been dismissed, he took the initiative to make the draft.

Socialism always destroys personal freedoms by trying to plan for other lives through a central government system that watches out for you. (This is why President Reagan once quipped that the worst words you could ever hear were these: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you!”) Capitalism allows you to plan for yourself. It allows for creativity and enterprise. Furthermore, it encourages people to provide for others in order to express their creativity through goods and services. Greed is, in reality, inimical to capitalism. Greed drives the welfare state more than it does capitalism since greedy people want unearned rewards to be given to them by a benevolent government that levels the playing field. Such a system directly causes people to petition governments to solve their personal problems, and the bigger the government’s role becomes the worse the nightmare.
The problem with liberal economic state-based solutions is that they undermine this cycle of personal success and initiative. Capitalism allows even “the wretched of the earth” to succeed. Envy and greed create wars and revolutions. Witness the great twentieth century bloodbaths, most of which revolved around economic thoughts and the role of government in engineering material possession and seeking to level the playing field economically.
Many young Christians are being sold a bill of goods about the evils of capitalism by evangelical writers such as Ron Sider, Tony Campolo and Jim Wallis. The intentions of these men are generally good. They desire equality, which is good. They also hate injustice and racism. This is also very good. But the equality of means and income is not the basis of real freedom. Even lifting everyone out of poverty is not possible since poverty is rooted in much more than access to more money.

“Senator McCain’s choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies.
“Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.
“This is Senator McCain’s first significant choice in building his executive team and it’s a bad one. It has to raise serious doubts in the minds of voters about John McCain’s commitment to conservation, to addressing the impacts of global warming and to ensuring our country ends its dependency on oil.”

I have some sad news. Unfortunately, Alaska voters defeated a ballot initiative yesterday that would have ended the state’s brutal aerial hunting program.
Thousands of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund supporters gave invaluable support to this important campaign, but in the end, deep-pocketed special interests carried the day.
This morning, I spoke with Nick Jans, co-chair of Alaskans for Wildlife, our grassroots partners in The Last Frontier who spearheaded the state ballot initiative to end Alaska’s brutal aerial hunting program. He wanted me to pass on this message to you:

Jim works for a political action committee. He is currently working on a team project to collect signatures for a ballot initiative. Obviously, companies cannot make hiring or firing decisions based on political affiliations. But in cases where the company has a strong stake in the election of a candidate or passage/failure of a measure or initiative, can a company deny you a promotion, perk, bonus, or other benefit based on political affiliations.
I mean, are there situations where you have to sacrifice your personal convictions at the altar of company loyalty as far as political matters are concerned. Would you fear being called a "Benedict Arnold" in the company's eyes--because from the firm's perspectice, you are basically engaging in treason, if you take the side opposite that which the firm takes. I mean, does working for the company require you to also support the organization's political goals in addition to its business goals. For instance, can an employee be required to attend a political rally (e.g. a candidate visit or an anti-war protest) or sign a petition?
What I really am talking about was this: Can you be in trouble with your company if you do not support its political causes by voting for the positions and candidates that the company endorses? I mean, isn't there any way that the company can find out how its employees voted without asking them (e.g. checking with the county elections office)?
CAMPAIGN AGAINST BRITISH SUMMER TIME
Ever since I first found out about British Summer Time (BST), I wondered what on Earth the point of it was - I mean, the sun comes up when it comes up, doesn’t it; regardless of what your clock is showing when it happens?
I was about six years old when I figured this out, and yet the government still doesn’t seem to have realized the futility of BST.
And what is the alleged purpose of BST? To allow farmers (0.016% of the population, at last reckoning) to get up ‘earlier’ and work ‘later’ during the summer months, or something. Has it not occurred to these farmers that they should just get up earlier on their own initiative, like everyone else (99.984% of the population) has to? What difference does it make, what time your clock shows?
For a government, whose stated purpose is to do whatever is best for the majority of the population it controls, does it not at least seem a little misguided to do something that only 0.016% of its people benefit from? Beside the fact that this 0.016% don’t actually benefit at all from BST anyway?
Now, some people have put forward the thought that most of the population do in fact benefit from farmers, producing food as they do; and this is a fair point. But would you be concerned if you knew that your potatoes had been harvested at 7.30 in the morning instead of 8.30? I don’t think so.
Add to all of this that most farmers get up at ridiculous times in the morning anyway, and really begin to wonder what the point of it all is.
In addition to all of the above, it should be noted that much of the food we eat is now imported - in other words, grown by farmers in other countries who do not have the ‘benefit’ of BST. Farmers in other parts of the world (roughly 98.65% of farmers) just get up and do their work like everyone else, and don’t request bizarre clock-changes that mess up everyone elses’ biorhythms and don’t actually help them at all anyway.
This growing prevalence of cheaper imported food also raises the question of what farmers in Britain actually do these days. We’ve all known for years that the government pays farmers not to grow some crops, thus regulating the food price index; and even pays many farmers to stockpile food they’ve already harvested (grain mountains, butter mountains and the slightly less imaginable milk mountains spring to mind). Therefore, why are these farmers in such a hurry to get up in the mornings anyway?
Also, it should be brought to your attention that an increasing amount of farming land is being given over to the production of biofuels, which don’t actually benefit anyone (they cause more carbon emissions in production than the equivalent amount of petrol or diesel does during combustion, in addition to the pollution emitted when they themselves are burned). And, in relation to BST, the rapeseed plants (that the oils for these fuels are harvested from) don’t know or care what time of day it is.
All of this still doesn’t explain why farmers see the need to drive their tractors along A-roads during peak traffic times. The suspicion arises that they don’t have anything else to do (being paid by the government not to grow anything) and are a bit bored (having got up really early in the morning and not having done anything since). I know it’s not specifically related to the subject, but tractors are designed to drive across fields, yes? So why do they have to drive on the roads at all? And if the do, why not do it when they get up, ridiculously early in the morning?
Therefore, considering all of the above, what about an initiative to promote GMT 24/7 and force the government to recant the outdated and impotent British Summer Time law?
Initially I propose a campaign of ridicule, starting with always referring to BST as ‘British Stupid Time’. This, I hope, will reinforce to the government the depth of feeling amongst the people with regard to the antiquated and defunct law.
Next, there should be some sort of petition, signed (obviously) by as many people as possible. This will be presented to the Prime Minister (or whoever passes for that at the time) by myself, or someone designated by the members of the Campaign.
Media coverage is of course another obvious tool we can use in our efforts, and pretty much any publicity will be good - be creative and think of some things to do that will raise awareness of our mission.
If the government fails to respond to all of the above, there is the final step of just boycotting BST wholesale. This really is a situation where if we all just ignore BST, it will go away - the government simply cannot ignore 99.984% of the population forever.
So then, let us go forth and cancel this aberration, doing our part to bring normality back to Britain (there is obviously a lot more involved in that than just getting the clocks right; but one step at a time, eh)?

The California Supreme Court's decision that the law against same sex marriage is unconstitutional takes effect in 30 days allowing same sex couples to marry, but the court's decision could be overturned in November due to initiative petitions that have already been submitted for a state constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage.
Since same sex marriage wasn't currently legal in the other states that have passed amendments banning it, will there be a backlash against California voters if the ban passes since they will be taking away a civil right for same sex couples that they already have?

Over the past two years, we have been faced with a continuous escalation of food prices, but how much of
it is justified? Some businesses are taking advantage to maximize their profits and I believe one such
company is KFC.
Let's look at a breakdown. A chicken can be divided into 9 parts; 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 side
breasts and one centre breast. A medium chicken retails at the supermarket for around $35. KFC
literally buys truckloads of chicken daily so we can assume they would pay around $30 for the same size
chicken.. How much does KFC sell the same nine pieces of chicken for? $78! A PROFIT OF $48 PER CHICKEN!
What's worse, a regular size soft drink sells for $5. Pour out the ice and see just how much drink you get
for $5. just about half a cup.
The worst of it all - KFC sells a 400ml bottle of Blue Waters
for $4.50. I made a call to Blue Water and they
said a case of 400ml water sells for $34. that's $1.41 per bottle. KFC buys water by the truckload and would
get it much cheaper. THEY MAKE $3.00 - $3.25 PROFIT ON A SMALL BOTTLE OF WATER!
We work hard for our money and we are getting little value for our hard earned dollars. We all need to
call Prestige Holdings - the parent company of KFC at 623-2646 and tell them that if they do not show
justification for their prices or reduce them... WE NOT BUYING! It's time we make a united stand on
principles of fairness. AS CONSUMERS WE HAVE THE POWER IN OUR OWN HANDS. I urge you to consider this

In California, a petition must gather 8% of the number of voters in the last gubernatorial election to become a ballot initiative if it's an amendment to the constitution.
