I already have spoken to two lenders and they have no idea what am I talking about. So maybe you guys know is there anybody who tried to get grant in Illinois? Where?

I do not want to use AmeriDream nor Nehemiah... I am in contact with another organization called Bethesda Project Inc. out of MS, but feel like time is running out for me to find something. My lease runs out in less than two months and I will be buying my first house. AmeriDream and Nehemiah basically just give you money that the seller isn't legally allowed to give you... then the seller "donates" it back to them. I am not looking for that. I want a program that really gives you grant money (gifts) directly from the government. I know there are programs like this for first time buyers. Anyone been there done that? Can you offer some suggestions, please? Has anyone heard of the American Dream Downpayment Initiative? I'm talking to Bethesda about that. It something like they offer you up to 6% of sale price up to $10,000. I just don't know if it's legit until the process is complete. I am in Chattanooga, TN. Anyone know of a local company that can assist me with this?
I think i may qualitfy but I have questions.
I have an appointment with any qgencies and I just want to know what im getting into before i even go there and talk. Do they pick certain places you can live or do you get to pick something within your means and financial situation.
